Page 4 Heavy Junk; that's what we called the machines that built bridges and roads. They moved mountains of earth and tons of material. Along with the heavy trucks, they literally re-shaped Viet Nam.
Page 5 Richard Erickson visited Viet Nam in January 1997. These are some of the pictures taken on that trip.
Page 6 The Country and the People. The countryside was very beautiful at times and the people; especially the children were often friendly.
Page 7 Road Sweeps; the province of the 1371. Most of the casualties endured by engineers during the war were by this MOS. Mines, Booby Traps, and Sniper Fire were constant risks.
Page 8 In 1965 there were many things that needed to be done. Of course the highest priority was to build a home! These were sent by Mike Leap.
Page 9 More pictures sent to me by a former member of 7th Engineers. In this case it was David Evans who sent them.
Page 10 Joe Lutz sends these pictures from the 1968 time period.
Page 11 In 1969 Bob Hope brought with him Neil Armstrong who had just got back from the moon, and Connie Stevens. The Goldiggers dance group was a tremendous hit with their high kicking routines.
Page 12 The Bob Hope Christmas show was always a great hit for the men. He always brought with him a bevy of beautiful women, and a bag of jokes that would make even the toughest of the men laugh out loud.
Page 13 These are miscellaneous pictures of my tour with Charlie Company in '69-'70. I have recently had new prints made from negatives. What an improvement! You might consider doing the same.
